A most unusual memorial…

In honor of Memorial Day, which was meant to be a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service, and has become more about the start of the summer season, barbeques, and sales, here is a photo of the Fleet Week parade on the Hudson River. 

“…nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more”.

I went back to the same spot where I took my favorite Central Park in the Snow photograph (see Iconic New York, Black and White 23/32) to take this shot.  What a difference a few months make!

Even a foggy day can be beautiful at the beach.

I was on my way to do a spring shoot of the Central Park Bridge (which is my favorite winter shot, see Iconic New York, black and white, Central Park in the Snow, image 22/30) when I passed the fountain in front of the Plaza where I came upon this most unusual sight.

Spring at the shore – surfboards at the ready.
