I love the stripe of wooden posts here, and the simplicity of the sailboat in the background. Bet it’s breathtaking at full size!
Beautiful … I love the contrast with the wood in the foreground. I can almost feel the wind.
I wish I could enlarge it to see it better, but even tiny, it looks like a lovely shot. The angled staccato verticals of the soldier-like posts contrast with the serene horizontal horizon and the lone sail in the distance. Beautiful!
To me, it’s a study in angles. Not sure if it has been b/w-ized, but it looks great.
I love the black and white treatment of this photograph. I am taking this a bit deeper, though – the old posts represent the past and the sailboat on the horizon, the present. Let’s also not forget about the Verrazano Bridge hiding in the mist way up at the right connecting to the edge of the image (the future?). Well done!
What a neat photo – the juxtaposition and the texture of the weathered pilings against the expanse of the water, with the point of light which is the sail, is quite fascinating.
I love the fact that you pick out a small detail in a photo and name the pic after the detail!
What an amazing pattern. It takes an artist’s eye to see the excitement that is in every day things if we would only look. I like that it is placed on the diagonal. That gives it a sense of movement and dynamism. I also like the placement of the sail. It forms the apex of an imaginary arrow with the pilings being the base. It leads your eyes right into the center of the photo.
