Zuccotti Park, New York City

I was coming from a shoot of the 9/11 memorial (an upcoming Changing Exhibition) and passed the protest at Zuccotti Park, formerly called Liberty Plaza Park.  I was taken by how small the park is – one square block of concrete, no grass – and by how mixed the messages of the protestors are.

I think it’s wonderful you had the chance to capture what will surely be a moment in our nation’s history. I like the parallel shapes of these two individuals, both with signs protesting their views, which are similar but somehow different. Nicely captured.

What an interesting photograph! I found humor in the bearded protestor – I don’t think most of us identify with him as one of the 99%. The woman’s sign says “No one puts baby in a corner,” yet, there she sits at the corner of the park! All the while the media is turned away from them. Well documented and subtle humor. I like it.

I saw these “hippies” partying too, and you captured well the colorful, less than serious atmosphere. It looks more like a carnival than a demonstration!
