Walk

September 7th, 2010

Did a day shoot in Philadelphia.  Beautiful city.  Got some classic iconic Philly shots, and some not so classic ones too.

I love a good anachronism – the walk sign and the walker in this shot made me smile.  Lots of old/new juxtapositions in this historic town.

Finch Hollow Nature Preserve

August 23rd, 2010

I was in Binghamton for a family event and hiked through this beautiful nature preserve.  There was one scenic vista after another (see Nature, Summer Landscape).  What moved me were the natural elements, left in place, so that even a dying tree became a visual marvel.

Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery

August 12th, 2010

I was at MOMA yesterday to see a wonderful small show of women photographers. It was a hot and sticky August day in New York and the sculpture garden was empty.  Except for this woman who was posing for a photo with Giacometti’s Tall Figure III.

City Gardening

August 3rd, 2010

I did a great shoot up at Conservatory Garden in Central Park.  What a wonderful place.  Three gardens each with its own style, English, French, Italian. And here’s a shot of one of the people who makes it possible for us city folk to see greenery.  Thank you sir!

Old Meets New

July 29th, 2010

Upper West Side July 2010; The Dakota, completed in 1884.  This Is Your New York.  A study in contrasts, old meets new, gables and balustrades opposite buses and taxicabs, subdued colors facing reds, blues, and yellows.  Old money and tourists. Ah New York!

Sandy Hook at Sunset

July 20th, 2010

Saturday night, 7:30pm. Walked in among the reeds, rabbits, and mosquitos on an unchartered path at Sandy Hook. Covered in mosquito bites but worth it to get some great sunset shots.  This scene reminded me of an impressionist painting.

Pier A

July 12th, 2010

I was doing a shoot of lower Manhattan and thought this old pier was so interesting architecturally.  The lush flower garden surrounding it made it very inviting on a hot summer day.
