There’s a somber mood created by the grays, even though they are relieved by the colors of the flag. Could be carrying a dead soldier out to sea…

This just may be the neatest photography of the American flag that I have ever seen. The red, white and blue cutting in at an angle against the almost neutral background of the water and the city is striking and beautiful. The wake of the boat leads one’s eye from the flag to the city and back again.

A very apropos photo for the day. Great job.

I see a positive side to this photograph – The US flag, large and colorful in a gray world, with the United Nations rising in the distance.

Great Memorial Day representation! Sailing forward in the midst of the sadness of those lost in war and finding hope; hope represented by the joyous colors of our flag on the left, and the aspirations of the UN on the right.

  6. Simone says:

I’m with those who see hope in this photo. Something about the vividness of the red, white, and blue reminding us all of a bright future. Very patriotic, very beautiful.

  7. Carole says:

A time of hope and optimism shines through this touching photo. Let us take time to remember all those fallen heroes on this May 30th, Memorial Day.

  8. Rob says:

Great photo coupling the flag with the United Nations!

Love everything about this: the contrast between the monotone of the background and the bright colors of the flag, the symbolism of the flag and United Nations building, the dynamic composition. It’s a perfect reminder of the debt we owe to those who sacrificed so much for this country.
