Enlarging this brings out the details:lots of people doing lots of things. Whimsical title focusing on the little girl picking dandelions. Neat photo.
Being a child from the 60s, I cannot help but think of the “Daisy Ad” where the sweet little girl is counting petals oblivious to the mushroom shaped cloud in the distance. But in this case, it is just pretty red balloons, right? I’ll try to replace your photo with the one from my memory!!
Funny how she seems all alone in her little world til your eyes are drawn backwards to the layered scenes behind her. Also, love the color of her dress with the red balloon in the background!
This photo gives us an interesting perspective – the little, innocent girl, the woman on her phone, and then the enormous red baloon sculpture in the distance. My eye traveled up from one to the next, as I studied the image. Well done capturing the moment, Ellen!
Great composition. With all that’s going on in the scene, our eye is drawn to the little girl playing wistfully with the dandelions. Reminds me of Wyeth’s painting “Christina’s World”.
This immediately reminded me of this e.e. cummings poem:
Tumbling-hair
picker of buttercups
violets
dandelions
And the big bullying daisies
through the field wonderful
with eyes a little sorry
Another comes
also picking flowers
Great shot!
Thank you Simone for the poetry to go with my photograph. I love the pairing. No one has ever put poetry to my work. I am humbled!
