Orb-Weaver Spider

Took this in the back garden; and then saw a similar photo in today’s Times, http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/13/nyregion/in-alley-pond-park-in-queens-the-lure-of-nocturnal-creatures.html?_r=1  If I had only sent it into the paper, I’d be famous this morning, shucks!  Well at least now I know what kind of spider it is.

Not so “itsy bitsy!” Love the light glowing through its legs and body – and how does it know to create that web pattern???

I have no idea what kind of lighting you need to get this glowing spider and web, but you’ve captured them well enough to illustrate a scientific treatise!

Thanks. The light was end of the day sunlight. All natural. But definitely challenging!

Lovely contrast in color and such rhythm in the web itself with all of it’s beautiful shapes and lines.

What an interesting web the spider weaves – and what a nice shot the photographer, famous in our world, at least, takes!

Always loved spider webs. They are so delicate yet so dangerous. Spooky!
