Wow that is so cool. Not a clue where this was taken but I love the artistic lines. There is also lots to see in the photo including people and bare trees. Fascinating!

What a wonderful, topsy-turvy view of the world! Always exciting to see your “new” perspectives.

    Interesting, Escher-like in color.

Great photo, Ellen! Really makes my head spin trying to figure out which way is up, let alone where this was taken! Well done!

Next time you plan on taking a trip on the International Space Station, please let us know first! ; )

    Haha, Bevy. Will do!

Is it from the inside of the Oculus? The balconies, whiteness, and maybe mirrors make me a little dizzy, but it’s a really interesting photo/abstraction. Do tell us where it was taken!

  8. Jan M says:

    That’s an odd one.

This is such a cool shot! Reminds me of the Bean in Chicago, but I bet it’s one of the new buildings in NYC. Absolutely love the abstract feel of this shot, and as always, a joy seeing the world through your lens.

OK, drum roll please…the answer is, this photo was taken at The Vessel, the new architectural/sculptural feature at Hudson Yards. The entire thing is made of copper-colored steel and when you stand below it you can see reflections of the surroundings, as well as of yourself.

  11. Bevy says:

Ah, very interesting! The side view of it is very recognizable, but I never realized how interesting it is from below it! Great observation!

  12. Anne says:

I love this! May I use it as a basis for an abstract painting? I’m no competition to you!

  13. ellen says:

Yes of course Anne. There’s no greater compliment!
