Thank you Thom. Yes, I used a Nikon micro lens with 1:1 reproduction. I had the lens almost touching the flowers. Very difficult to do, especially hand-held. To give you some idea, the flowers in reality are less than an inch long and the buds on the right side of the image, less than 1/2″. The lens focuses in so tight that the flower on the left was blurred, while it’s stamen and pistil are clear. Also, everything that would normally show as the background was turned bright white. This photograph had no post-production work done on it; it is exactly as I took it!
Truly stunning floral photo. The colors are magnificent.
It looks like it could almost be a watercolor.
What a delicate and vibrant photo, Ellen! Composition and focus (both in and out) are perfect! Well done again!
This photo is a lovely reminder that eventually spring will come. Thanks for the uplift.
Yay I love this photo! Beautiful curves, colors, and lines and a wonderful tribute.
Beautiful flowers. Almost as pretty as a lily itself!
Very nice use of the micro/macro lens, a difficult lens to use well.
