A Day’s Shoot – New Changing Exhibition

One day in the life of this photographer.

From the railroad station on the Hudson River line (the image included here, Station Reflections)

to a beautiful, classic, but tired and soon to be restored, Untermyer Park, to a full moon at the beach.  Please see the Changing Exhibition page http://www.ellengoodmanphotography.com/changing-exhibition

Lot’s of really interesting photographs here, Ellen. Some purely graphic, like “The Train Goes By” and others emotional “Nighttime Shadows.” Always like the reflections you get in some of your photos as well like the one above. Seems like you had a successful day’s shoot capturing a broad spectrum of images.

These are SPECTACULAR! Love the one above – soft slopes juxtaposed with the angles of the metal. My favorites are 5 (the woman is awesome – I love when you capture people), 7 (gorgeous details of the tree), and 10 (the oak, which I would frame and hang in a heartbeat). You were obviously inspired by this place. Well done.

Can’t believe you got that reflection! Almost looks as though you layered that shape on top of a background. Love this one.

  4. Bernice says:

Nature vs. industry; strong geometry and gentle, undulating landscape – a great contrast. And I love the surreal reflection in the window.

Thanks all for commenting about this blog shot. I’m not sure that I made it clear, but I also put up a new “Changing Exhibition”. If you’d like to comment about any of those photos, you have to do it here, under blog. If you’d like to know the name of any of the work on the Changing Exhibition page, just hold your mouse over the image and the title will come up. Sorry for any complications or confusion. It’s just the limitations of the site.

I love the work titled “Nighttime Shadows”, it feels so ominous yet hopeful. The shadow on the sand makes it feel as if the ground is going to split open under the photographer. Nice shot!

Really love both Full Moon Over the Ocean and Nighttime Shadows.

All the photos on your changing exhibition are amazing! Can’t choose a favorite to comment on – you’re getting so good!

My favs are “The Train Goes By” and “Nighttime Shadows.” Very different from one another. Looks like Allen and I honed in on same two.

Beautiful photos of a place I remember well….I used to go to Untermyer park often with my friends, and I remember it BEFORE all the damage…very glad to hear that it will be restored…looking at these great shots brought back memories….

I haven’t been to Untermyer in a long time. These photos brought back very fond memories. You captured its quiet sadness on film. If you made this into a slide show I think the perfect accompanying song would be “Old Friends” by Simon and Garfunkel.

These photos are digital, Jan, but yes I agree. Peaceful reminders of years gone by. And all about old friends 🙂 Glad you liked the photographs.

I love “The Train Goes By.” Very Modernist and very bold colors. It’s also amazing that you captured such an intense moment as a train rushing past and turned it into abstraction.
