In honor of Memorial Day, which was meant to be a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service, and has become more about the start of the summer season, barbeques, and sales, here is a photo of the Fleet Week parade on the Hudson River.
“…nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more”.
I love the juxtaposition of the boats, and what a beautiful quote.
beautiful patriotic shot….much more in keeping with what memorial day should be, as you stated.
Thanks for reminding us what Memorial Day is really about, with a beautifully composed picture. The story I’ve heard is that when decorating the graves of Civil War dead, the local ladies decorated both Union and Confederate graves, a step in healing that great rift. Wish we could use this Memorial Day to start to heal some of our contemporary divides.
Good shot and nice Memorial Day reminder.
