This is such an interesting shot, Ellen. The decision to focus on the curvature and architecture of the railing and allow the sky and city fade into the background really helps to focus on a beautiful object many people overlook.
The way each aspect of the shot becomes layered in the photo (sky, city, water, rail) adds an interesting dimensional aspect that reinforces the focus on the rail, while maintaining a certain elegance to the photograph.
The curved railing looks like a beautiful giant seagull perched on the cement base. Hope you got to relax there and enjoy Mother’s Day!
What beautiful lines and shapes! Where is this?
Thank you. It at Carl Schurz Park, behind Gracie Mansion.
Fabulous curve!

Thanks, Ellen!
I love the motion of solid objects in this shot! A unique perspective – a hallmark of your photos, for sure! Well done.
