Inner city rooftop workers, or US Marines planting the flag at the Iwojima memorial? Could be either, or both! There is also a Mondrian quality to the image – so many horizontal and verticle geometric shapes. I like it!
That’s a Mondrian in the muted colors of his youth! Kind of like an abstract watercolor, but the diminutive figures almost make it look like a cartoon.
Because of the rooftop location and the sandy colors, this photo remind me of “Man on Wire”, the documentary about the tightrope walker, Philippe Petit, walking from one trade tower to the other in the 70s. Dangerous, but exciting- just like this photo.
This photo looks just like a Rockwell painting to me.

Very geometric, and the tiny men almost look like they’re performing on a distant stage. Such an interesting photo!
I love the geometry of this. It would be the basis for an interesting abstract painting.
The workers must feel like Lilliputians in dealing with the enormity of NYC rooftops! Art, like life, is so much a matter of perspective!
The muted color and flatness of this image make it look like a painting me.
