Indeed Carole. Not only did I show her the photograph, but I promised to take her to see the lighthouse. Not as easy as it sounds, the lighthouse is across a highway and down a bunch of very steep pathways. Worth it though!
Even sweeter than the Little Red Lighthouse and
The Great Gray Bridge over the water
Is your sharing the story and experience
With your granddaughter!!
What a wonderful iconic photograph, Ellen! I love the juxtaposition of the vertical bright red lighthouse with the angled perspective of the gray bridge against the blue sky, and such a great story! Well done!
Certainly seems as though that book could have been written about this little red lighthouse and big gray bridge. Where and how you found it is really amazing. The photo is also beautiful. The lighthouse and bridge standing out against the beautiful blue sky is stunning. I love how you also caught the sailboat with its white sails and the greenery along the water’s edge. Taking your granddaughter to visit the area will leave a lasting impression with her. One I am sure she will never forget.
That’s an incredibly wonderful story! How fortunate that you got to read it with a grandchild and show her your photo taken decades after the book was written!
Perfect shot for a memory you’ll hold with your granddaughter. I hope you show her the photo.

I LOVE this shot and the layers of size perspective! Look at how tiny that sailboat is! And I LOVE this not-so-little lighthouse. Beautiful.

Love the book and the image
I wasn’t familiar with the book (how did I miss it?), but I love the idea that “small can be mighty.” A great image, worth the trek!

Yes, Caroline, that book was written about this bridge!
What a wonderful, classic, amazing image, and so true to the book! Should be on everyone’s list to read to the grand-kids, along with your image.
