I love this photo! Great textures and shapes – and just such a fun thing to capture. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Something so magical about seeing an elephant in the city, real or not!! Great capture!!

What a perfect perspective, Ellen! I smiled when I saw this photo – I think the elephant is smiling as well! I also liked the brick to wood to plants to concrete transitions. Well done!

Thanks Bruce. Actually the elephants are sustainable sculptures. Each elephant sculpture is made from dried lantana camara, an invasive, toxic shrub that is taking over forests and displacing wildlife.

I love elephants–and this one’s a beauty! As Mark Shand said, “People are so difficult. Give me an elephant any day.” I’m glad to read that they’ve found a good use for lantana camara that doesn’t harm the environment. Great juxtaposition with the urban background!

What a wonderful elephant sculpture. Certainly a great capture in the city. Had to have been exciting and unusual to see them. The photo is beautiful.

  8. ellen says:

Yes, definitely unusual. And there were herds of them, as if they were travelling through the city. Not easy to photograph as there were also herds of tourists, all with their cellphone cameras at the ready!

Love this photo, especially with this beautiful sculpture against the old style building as your backdrop!
