I took this photo at the Veteran’s Day Parade eight years ago. Always one of my favorites, most especially because the man in the jeep, front left, reminds me of my uncle. Most of those who served in WWII, including my father, father-in-law, and uncles, are gone now. Today we honor their service to our country.
What a great shot – especially the way the sunlight is making the flags almost glow. Feels timeless!
Definitely a poignant photograph here, Ellen, with the policeman standing almost at attention as he observes the soldiers passing by, possibly a veteran himself. The perfect dedication for Veterans Day. Well done!
A Beautiful tribute to our veterans, past and present
I just came back from this year’s parade. What joy it was to be out on the parade route, cheering, waving, and photographing the men and women who have served our country. Flags were waving, people were crying, it was so moving. And I’ll have plenty of shots to choose from next year!
My dad served in WWII and is no longer living but I want to thank you for this beautiful photo.
Our wonderful, selfless veterans should always get the care, honor, and recognition they so deserve!
About a parade……
Festivities filled
With balloons and lemonade
Yet, our many heroes of the current day
Will eventually be a small brigade
It means so much to honor them
Lest our memories fade…..
As always Bevy, thanks for the poetry!
