There is so much to love about this photo, mainly due to the angle it was captured. The perpendicular and rushing falls, one behind the other; the lingering snow; and the varied textures of the subject matter.
Love the pairing of structure/industry and nature in this photo – the bridge almost makes the waterfall that much more special. Must go find this place! Great shot!
Such a contrast of the beauty of the falls with the bridge in front and buildings behind. It makes for a very interesting photo.
It reminds me of High Falls in Rochester NY and they have a beautiful falls right in the middle of a mostly industrial area.
Since I live close to the Great Falls, I can appreciate the unique angle at which you made this photo. The metal bridge struts overpower the magnificent falls behind them; an essay on the constant tension between the power of nature and industry.
Wonderful detail, texture and nuance; I like the dissonance of angles. Hard to believe this is just outside New York!
Ditto on Thom’s visual comments! I can almost hear the water rushing down the rocks on this photo, Ellen. Well done!

What a stunning photo! The word that came to mind is “power,” seen in the water, rock, and steel.
Fabulous framing!
The mighty waterfall’s thrust
In nature’s otherwise hush.
What a rush!

Carolyn, these falls too are right in the middle of an industrial area. In fact, I read that Paterson was America’s first planned industrial city.
