You captured the way our world is looking these days. Snow on the sand and a precarious fence for protection. Great shot, Ellen!

  2. Thom says:

It looks like white sand, and a perfect photo cover for a novel about a summer in the Virgin Islands! Lovely.

  3. Jan says:

I love the reflection of the fence; it’s clarity and how it resembles a bridge.

  4. Bernice says:

You’ve created a composition of geometric beauty and eerie silence. I love the blue reflections of the dilapidated fence on the white snow, and the mix of horizontals, verticals and diagonals.

  5. Jacqueline says:

This is a wonderful juxtaposition of object and shadow, the warmth we think of when we think of the beach and the cold of the winter snow. The waves of the fence are reminiscent of the waves of the water.

    The endless sea
    The endless sky
    The endless shore
    Hence, why a fence?

  7. Simone says:

Love this shot – especially the meandering shadow of the fence against the snow and the lines that draw the eye to the ocean. Incredibly inviting. Well done!

  8. Carolyn says:

Without the fence and distant water it could very well be White Sands National Park in New Mexico. Very interesting photo.

  9. ellen says:

Carolyn, I’ve never been to that national park, but I’m putting it on my list for “after it’s all over” travel!!!

I think my favorite aspect of Snow Fence is the perspective you have captured and its implied motion. The meandering fence leads my eye out to the sea and up into the clouds. Well done, Ellen!

Love the proportions and perspective! And repetition. Looks cold!
