A beautiful and meaningful photo. I like how it’s the red poppies and the flags that really pop here, with the strong presence of the street light anchoring the image and mirroring the lines of the markers.

  2. Bevy says:

You beautifully captured the Memorial Day spirit of gratitude: – a neighborhood of lovely, tree-lined homes in a peaceful blue sky setting thanking and remembering those who bravely faced anything but peacefulness.

  3. Michelle says:

I love the color and the fact the flags are all standing like soldiers in their crisply ironed dress uniforms.

  4. Jacqueline says:

I’m pleased to see a star of David included amongst the crosses. All should be remembered.

  5. Bruce says:

I like the solemnity of scale here. The houses in the background tell us it is a small town and the crosses and star of David tell us many soldiers were being remembered on a sunny day in May. Well done.

  6. Bernice says:

A moving image of a memorial on Memorial Day. An ordinary small town pays homage to its war dead, including a Jew among all its Christians. Long live diversity, freedom and beauty!

  7. Carole says:

Let us all remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so the rest of us live and remain free. God bless America. Thank you for the solemn depiction Ellen.

  8. Jan says:

Thank you for this beautiful photographic tribute to those who sacrificed for our country.

  9. Anne says:

This is a charming bit of Americana!
