Photography is shaped by many perceptions, but one of the most important is balance. This is a beautifully balanced photograph, in the classical sense. And it can be “read” as simply or as complex as you want. Nicely done.

A quiet pause in a weekend of fresh air, sunshine and biking! Ahhhh! Your lens caught the pause and captured the whole picture.

It seems that the whole city is contained by the bridge–so serene and lovely.

  4. Simone says:

Love the juxtaposition of the bike and the bridge, as well as the rocks and the skyline. A perfect NYC people shot too. Well done!

Love this photograph, Ellen! There is a peacefulness to it. There is also something about the dark green tree that connects the distant city and sky with the rocks and person in the foreground. Well done!

Simone – this photo technically belongs in the category of People of New Jersey. She’s sitting in New Jersey with NYC behind her 🙂

  7. Bernice says:

The many shades of blue help create the mood of summery serenity in this photo. And, as usual, the composition is well balanced: nature in the foreground and urban structures in the background. But the girl with the bike is more into electronics than nature!

Yes I almost titled this “Cellphone Contemplation” 😉

Unusual view of Manhattan. Quiet, peaceful mood.
