Wow, Ellen, this is an absolutely surreal photo! I can’t believe you were able to catch this amazing celestial moment. I think you need to do an Iconic Space series next 😉 Happy New Year! Looking forward to seeing what incredible things your eye and camera capture in 2017.
As an amateur astronomer, I have to say “cudos” to you, Ellen. You captured “Earthshine” on the darker surface of the moon from sunlight reflected off of the Earth’s surface. What a dramatic shot and so difficult to photograph. Well done!
As one totally ignorant of astronomy, I am amazed at this photo. I would question whether it was real if I didn’t know how real you are, Ellen. This is so unique and so moody, it belongs in a category of its own: romance??? Happy New Year to a wonderful photographer!
Hope it’s a stellar year! Nice capture Ellen. You always seem to be in the right place at the right time for these amazing photos. I appreciate how long you need to wait for everything to line up to your standards.
Thanks Jan! This was just kismet. I walked out the door, ran back for my camera, auto-release, and tripod. Set up in a minute. Took eight shots. Done. Thank you for your continuing support of my work.

Thanks for being a fan Emily.

Thank you Bruce. That means a lot coming from you!
“Here Comes The Sun”! After all, it is the sunshine lighting the moon and Venus on this brand new 365 day journey! Happy New Year!
Amazing. Beautiful One-of-a-kind.
Beautiful shot Ellen!!!
Thanks Bevy and Anne. Happy New Year and thank you for being Ellen followers!
Thank you Cannonball. Keep writing to the blog and you may find a surprise in the mail, wink wink 🙂 Happy New Year!

Thank you so much to one of my most dedicated fans. Yes it is real, and so am I 😉 Happy New Year to you!
I was looking at this last night. It looked just like that.
What an amazing photo! How did you ever find such a black sky in the city?
Happy Happy New Year!
Right Jan? Thanks Jackie. It was taken at the shore. Happy and healthy to you both and your families!
Always enjoy your photos! Thanks for including me.
Thanks Sheila! Happy New Year.

What a stunning photo – the brightness of the moon (in its phase) and Venus and all the blackness in between. What happened to all the other stars?
Thank you Eileen. I think the other stars were masked by the bright light of the moon. Happy 2017!
Most impressive!!
