Interesting photograph, Ms. Goodman. It’s almost like someone did a pencil line drawing on a roof and then added the reality of a block and tackle. I’m going with “construction” here, but there is clearly someone’s unconscious intent to create art! Thanks for looking up.
This is a really unique photo, you have such a good eye for detail. Construction: the most modern of all the arts.
I could swear it’s a sculpture by David Smith – the first to “write in space.” Great photo!
Thanks Bernice. That’s whose work I thought of when I saw this.
I love the way that you’ve created a sculpture by framing it within a photograph. The sense of “high art” is really created from the completely white surroundings and backdrop which give the viewer the illusion of the “white cube.” This also reminds me of several contemporary artists who build small scale sculptures and photograph them to make them appear life size. But you’ve taken this one step further and photographed an ordinary object atop a pedestal!
