Spices

Just came back from a wonderful week in Israel. Here’s a photo from the “souk” or marketplace in the Old City in Jerusalem.

Great shot! Makes the spice collection in our apartment seem extremely inadequate.

  2. Sue says:

I bet it smelled wonderful! Can’t wait to see more from your trip.

  3. Bernice says:

Love the color coordinated arrangement you captured! So neatly arranged and composed.

  4. Karen says:

I love the colors and can only imagine the smells! Glad you had time to do some “sense of place” photos on your short trip with all your delightful ability to capture a place in a moment.

  5. Anne says:

This photo evokes lovely aromas. I hope more pix go up on your website, Ellen.

The spices are colorful, but it was the reflection in the mirror that caught my eye, and that brought me up to the picture of the Dome of the Rock on the wall. Spice shops can be found all over the world, but this one is craftily tagged “Jerusalem!” Great photo!

Thank you all for your comments and continuing support. I’ve put some other images up in Nature (see Wild Flowers) and People and Places (see Western Wall, Mount of Olives, and Golden Dome). Anne, those are for you! Ask and ye shall receive 🙂

Some beautiful shots…makes me want to go there!

What great colors, it looks like a rainbow. It is so interesting to see other cultures. You wouldn’t find a shop like that in America. Please show more shots of Israel. I can’t think of a better way to see it than through your eyes.

The photo “Western Wall” caught my eye not only because of the interesting pattern of stones, crevices and prayer notes, but also because it tells the story of the hope and faith of a people. Just think of the lives each one of those pieces of paper represent, then multiply that by the full expanse of the wall and its duration over time. If only that wall could talk and tell us all that it has seen.
