Dedicated to my Aunt, my fan, and my friend, Shirley, who always saw the light through the clouds.

Wow, great shot. I don’t always comment on the photos but I do enjoy them when I see them!
Beautiful sentiment for Aunt Shirley: light beyond the sorrow. And a gift to abstract painters!
This is such a breathtakingly amazing shot of such a classic NYC scene. I love the silhouette of the buildings against the sun. Reminds me of a Helen Keller quote, “keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows.”
Such a dramatic shot, Ellen. The darkened buildings against the setting sun are quite moving. Shirley would be so proud.
Picture is outstanding and perfect to reflect the bittersweet feelings of the day. Simone’s quote is right on.
When I first saw this I thought of the breathtaking movie scene where the blazing sun gradually appears and fills the frame, to the exclusion of all else (2001, A Space Odyssey?). A stunning image.
Beautiful photo – thanks for sharing!
Her vibrance shines through in your photograph. I am happy I had the privilege of knowing her even though it was for a short time.
lovely photo, lovely dedication
A very beautiful, dramatic shot that captures your feelings about your Aunt’s optimistic outlook. The glowing sun that radiates between the narrow gap between 2 NYC skyscrapers is a fitting tribute as well as a splendid photo.
Dramatic and beautiful!
Aunt Shirley is smiling on you.
Thanks everyone. I loved the way the sunlight, after such a stormy day, shone on the steam coming off of the building at the bottom of the photo and lit up the one window to the left, making three separate points of light.
You captured the glow of Shirley’s bright spirit!
