Like popcorn – you wait, and wait and then all of a sudden they start popping in full bloom! Your photo not only captures a lovely floral display, but a wonderful “Spring-ing” to life moment.
One often sees paintings and photographs of irises, but this one is the most unusual I can ever remember seeing. Ellen, you must have been lying in the garden to get this!
What I find most interesting about this photo is the composition. With the grey field below and the grey background framing the flowers, there is a painterly feel to this subtly beautiful shot.
This shot of the front garden was taken through the shutters – hence the grey line at the bottom (shutter) and the grey field beyond (driveway). Glad you liked it.
Love the Irises, Ellen, peeking out of their springtime buds. How beautiful! What an interesting effect on the bottom of the photograph, as well.
A beautiful shot! Almost like a city of irises – iconic nature 🙂 Love the lines of the stalks and the grace of the blooms. Well done.

Celebrating the emergence of the lovely iris! Nice, Ellen!
