Walk With Joe

Did some shooting at Monmouth Battlefield State Park in Manalapan, NJ.  Came upon lots of folks who turned out for a fund raising walk in memory of a friend killed on 9/11. http://www.walkwithjoe.com/

Lest we forget…

Two things strike me most about this photo: One is, the wheels; wheels on the cannon for fighting, and wheels on the wheelchair – sometimes the result of the cannon. The other is the perfectly blue sky; 9/11 literally came out of the blue and these blue skies we’ve been having lately let’s me know another anniversary is here. It is nice to know that the good people who were lost on that day are remembered.

A fitting tribute to 911, Ellen. I find the wheels of power in the canon, and wheels of weakness in the wheelchair, an interesting juxtaposition.

with the cannon in the light and the gentleman in the shadow, it truly feels like a tribute to those who were lost. well done as always!

Light & dark, power and frailty – your composition tells an eloquent story enhanced by the actual subjects of cannon and wounded war veteran.

  5. Sarah says:

A battle of the wheels! How clever, Ellen. It is almost as if the wheelchair and the cannon are dancing. Great silhouette work, as always. 🙂

I see the horizontal lines at the top and bottom of the frame juxtaposed to all of the verticals of the building. The cannon wheels themselves are seen head-on so that they too are vertical lines. Great composition.
