Old Meets New
So sparkly; the new.
And yet the charm of the old
Is much like the comfort of a well-worn shoe.
… and the bridge ties the old and new together so well!
What a great composite perspective, Ellen! You have captured an image of New York history, and the Brooklyn Bridge, set against the gigantic monolith building, totally speaks to how NYC has changed. Well done!

I’ve spent so much energy cursing that new building that took away a lovely, historic view that I decided it was time to embrace it. So glad I’ve been photographing NYC for a long time and immortalizing many great views that no longer exist. The city continues to grow and change and so must I!

It’s been said that NY would be a great city once it’s finished. This photo illustrates that perfectly.
That’s great Eileen. I just wish they would take into account what these supertall buildings do to the views. But of course that’s the photographer’s perspective!
I can understand the comments regarding old meeting new and the changing city. Change can be good but that being said new should always take into account and respect the old, historic and iconic. Your photograph is beautiful as usual despite the fact that the massive building in its ugliness has changed that wonderful view.
