Every picture tells a story, and this one has many things to say. Great shot!

I think I like this image most, of all I have seen of your work. It is nuanced, deep, rich and perceptive. It’s intriguing, thought-provoking, and echoes so many iconic paintings in American art. It’s one thing as a part of an intentional series, but it’s also a stand-alone delight.

What a fascinating photo, Ellen! Again, your eye has captured a unique combination of elements while telling a story of long ago. The many textures and shades of color and shadow catch my eye and make me wonder who was there and what they did. Well done!

    Ancient history
    Peoples’ everyday lives
    To us, will always be
    A mystery.

I love the depth of this photo–I feel like I could walk right through the doorway into times past. It’s interesting that the curtains in the back look so tidy, as if the space was once well-loved.

I love this photo! It provides beauty and interest with the old and peeling door, window, floor and walls. The dichotomy of the soft and pretty, comparatively, almost new looking curtains at the window accentuates the old rustic appearance of the rest of the photo.

Wow, this is so eerie and so interesting! I love the depth and the texture of the peeling layers. Wish someone could tell us the story of what happened when this room was new. Beautiful and well done!

Thank you all for your comments. I was very happy with this photo. I must admit that when I titled it, I thought everyone would complete the sentence. If these walls could talk… they would say “please come renovate me! I used to be a beautiful and proud structure and I am slowly withering away”.

Your control of perspective and composition in your shots is so strong. My absolute fav is this fading glory doorway piece. All your strengths are evident here, yet the viewer is challenged to imagine the story behind the image. They become part of the story, too.
