A perfect statement on this holiday weekend, the significance of which some people appear to have have forgotten. We must remind each other of the true importance of our Freedom and Independence, for all Americans.

What a dramatic black and white image, Ellen. If I may read into its significance, our flag appears to be trapped in a metal structure, just like we have all been trapped by the pandemic. But the flag has always been a symbol of hope, and that is the reminder here. Well done and Happy 4th!

Even if not seen through a chromatic lens
The primary red white and blue fare

It gives us hope to know
That “….our flag is still there…..”

  4. Carole says:

I hope we can bridge opposing sides to unite America with democracy again. God bless America

  5. Bernice says:

The structure of the bridge and the composition you’ve captured say multitudes about the multitudes of Americans trapped by poverty, incarceration, racism, and now, the pandemic. Beautifully moving photograph – “a picture speaks louder than words.”

  6. Jan says:

As that large waving flag, and Lee Greenwood say: God Bless the USA! All blessings needed and welcomed!

  7. Carolyn says:

Such a beautiful photo. G-D bless America.

  8. Jan M says:

    Have a happy 4th!

  9. Simone says:

WOW, what a photo! There’s something so soft and lovely about the billowing flag next to the structured bridge. I love the lines, but especially the arch. Absolutely beautiful (and classic in B&W). Well done!

  10. MaryJane says:

I love your choice of black and white; it makes it a classic.

  11. Cheryl says:

Thanks for reminding us of what we’ll be losing if we let our democracy be destroyed. I love how you can look at the same surroundings as everyone else and capture a deeper meaning there.
