Interesting shot, Ellen. You captured the quintessential NYC. Love the frozen steam. I have to say, though, my first impression was The Beatles crossing Abbey Road! Well done!
FABULOUS shot! I especially love the silhouetted figures and the motion of the smoke pointing toward the clouds. And of course, I’m with everyone on Abbey Road! A beautiful photo of motion, light, and shadow.
I find street photography to be the most challenging and the most rewarding. In this case, I was literally crossing the street and saw the plume of smoke against the bright late autumn sky. I stopped for a quick second, took one photo, and kept going. I was very happy with the results. Thank you to Helen Levitt and Vivian Maier and all the photographers who have come before me.

Ellen’s Abbey Road!
I love the shape of the steam cloud and the pops of light!

This looks like a still from a film noir, with its dusky lights, dark silhouettes, and rising smoke. Mysterious and suggestive!
Ethereal stuff: shadows, smoke, light, clouds. Very nice.
