A thirty foot platform was built on Manhasset Creek as part of the New Jersey osprey project. Here the ospreys have set up their nest and tend to their baby. Not easy to get to, you can’t get very close at all, and I had to set up my tripod in the reeds, but so worth it! Truly beautiful and amazing.
what a wonderful balancing act. there is harmony in this photo that can only be achieved by nature and a great photographer.
Love the staying and going theme
Love the osprey ready for flight. Amazing seeing that immense wing spread! Catching it must have been exciting.
How woderful that you were able to capture the osprey family and activity. Congrats to the talented photographer.
great shot!…timing is everything…we have many osprey nests out here on shelter island, and i know how difficult it must have been to get that shot…..really good one!
What a wonderful photo! The man-made geometry vs. nature’s lyricism.
Yes Jane, it was not easy at all. I couldn’t get close, had the big lens, and needed the tripod to steady the camera, which always makes it harder for me to catch motion in a shot.
Wonderful! I miss the osprey nests we used to see on the North Shore of Long Island.
Great shot! What wonderful parents …one watching while one is off to getting more food. Congrats on your recent sales, (not surprising)!
The wings in (almost) flight mirror the trees behind the bird, as if all life is reaching toward the heavens. Lovely.
